How to Plant Mums?

Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil

Plant in spring or early fall

Loosen the soil to a depth of 8 to 12 inches

Mix in compost if needed

Dig a hole slightly larger than the root ball

Place the mum in the hole at the same depth it was growing in the pot

Backfill with soil and firm gently

Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart

Water thoroughly after planting

Mulch lightly around the base, keeping mulch away from the stem

Water regularly until established

Pinch back stems in early summer for fuller growth
